Gary

Gary Elkins, President

Gary received his BS-Business Administration from Indiana University and his MBA-Leadership from Aurora University.  He was stationed for four years in San Diego as a naval officer and completed two West Pacific deployments – the first included assistance in the Mediterranean as part of a multi-national force during the Beirut Lebanon conflict of ’83.  Upon completion of his military obligation, Gary was in printing management for twenty-five years working with companies such as R. R. Donnelley & Sons, Standard Publishing and Hess Print Solutions.  He has been in Higher Education now since 2012 and is currently the Director of Enrollment at the George Williams College campus of Aurora University (Williams Bay, WI).  He and his wife, Mary, live in Huntley and enjoy hiking, reading and visiting their son and his family in Cincinnati.

Mike Richberg

Mike Richberg, Secretary

Mike Richberg is an Account Executive in the Marine Finance Group, GE Capital. He has been the unit Leader for the Hoffman Estates GE Veterans Network (GEVN). The GEVN is a company sponsored group that provides support to deployed soldiers, their families and local veteran organizations. Richberg is a graduate of Cornell University earning a BS in Agriculture Economics. After he graduated Richberg enlisted and spent 11 years in the Army and served in the Middle East during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. As a result of his actions, Richberg was awarded the Bronze Star. He and his family reside in McHenry, Ill.He actively coaches a lacrosse team.

Meredith Schaefer

Meredith Schaefer

Meredith Schaefer is a community relations manager with the Northwest Herald/Shaw Media. Schaefer works closely with a number of not-for-profit agencies throughout the county, representing the newspaper as a sponsor and partner. Her experience in digital advertising, social media, fundraising and events has been used to brand online products like Planit Northwest, Big Brothers Big Sisters Gala, and numerous newspaper programs. She earned a BA in English Writing from Loras College in Dubuque, IA.

Tim Havenhill

Tim Havenhill

Dr. Havenhill is a graduate of West Point and a veteran of Desert Storm, serving as a combat engineer officer. He deployed to the Kuwait twice more in the years after the war. He resigned his commission after four years on active duty and went on to medical school. He completed his training as an orthopedic surgeon, and has been a partner at McHenry County Orthopedics in Crystal Lake for over a decade. Michele M. Gill

Michele Gill is a Business Consultant and a member of the Adjunct Business Faculty at Aurora University. She graduated from Columbia College of Missouri with a Bachelor’s degree in Business and a Master’s degree in Business from Aurora University. Michele has thirty years of business experience in both the profit and non-profit sectors. Her business experience has focused on organizational development with a specialization in strategy execution and implementation. Michele also serves as the Financial Manager for her family owned and operated business that just celebrated 25 years in 2016. She is married with four children, a son who has served in the U.S. Army and a daughter who is currently serving as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.

Paula Dorion-Gray

Paula Dorion-Gray, a Certified Financial Planner has over 3 decades of experience in her field.  The variety of issues encountered during her years of servicing a diverse client base gives Paula the experience to effectively counsel any situation.

Currently, Paula is a member of the Centegra Health System Board of Governors, a board member for TLS for Veteran’s and a member of the Executive Committee for Education 2 Empowerment, affiliated with McHenry County College. Paula’s past positions include: Vice President of the Pioneer Foundation, President of The Rotary Club of Crystal lake Dawnbreakers, Chairperson for the Planned Giving Committee of the Centegra Foundation and Board President of the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake.    Paula also serves as a mentor to women both in and out of her industry.

Chad Miller

Chad Miller

Chad Miller enlisted in the Illinois Army National in 1986 and served for over 16 years. He attended the Army Officer’s Candidate School, graduating in 1991. He has held many enlisted and commissioned officer positions over the course of his career. In 1992 he was activated as an Infantry Platoon leader to help relief efforts from the flooding on the Illinois and Mississippi rivers, and was charged with maintaining the Army Corp of Engineers levy system. He was also honored to be one of the last 3 Company Commanders to attend the last class of Jungle Warfare School in Ft. Sherman, Panama before releasing control of the canal weeks later. He has a vast experience in leadership roles in various charitable organizations, serving both the military and civilian sector. Currently he is Vice President of Sales for Dana Molded Products in Carpentersville, IL, a leading plastic injection and blow molding manufacturer.

Walkowiak, Rich

Rich Walkowiak

Rich Walkowiak works as the Operations Manager at JA Frate Transportation where he has called home for 31 years. He served for four years in the US Marine Corps from 1984 to 1988 as an Amphibious assault crew chief. He currently oversees day-to-day operations for JA Frate’s trucking division in Crystal Lake and actively supports the company’s veteran employees. He has also coordinated JA’s involvement in events for veterans, such as donations for the annual USMC Toys for Tots parade in McHenry, Operation Support Our Troops’ annual drive and various events that give back to local veterans and their families. He was also nominated in 2017 as one of The Everyday Heroes by the Northwest Herald for helping Veterans in the community.

Lori Boyle

Lori Boyle is a United State Marine Corps veteran.  Currently she is a small business owner in the graphic design and printing field.  In addition, Lori is a member of the Marine Corps League, the McHenry Business Connection group, the McHenry, Johnsburg, and Fox Lake/Richmond Spring Grove Chambers as well as on the marketing ministry at Trinity Baptist Community Church.  Lori has held several administrative positions in these groups including president, vice president & secretary.  She has been recently elected to a Board of Director position at TLS Veterans and looks forward to working for our veterans.

In her spare time, Lori enjoys being creative, photography, playing with her dogs and walking in nature.  She plans on doing some traveling with her amazing husband and goofy dogs in the future in a recently purchased camper.

Richard Scobee

Richard Scobee

Richard has worked in brand management for Planters Peanuts and Butterball Turkey, and owned his own branding agency, Cows In Trees, for 32 years. He is a consummate brand strategist and his vision elevates brands to new heights, grounds them in marketplace realities, and benchmarks them for growth.

Richard understands the way people want to engage and be engaged by a brand. His marketing, branding and communications leadership has lead to increased brand awareness, preference, distribution, sales and profits across B2B and B2C clients. Importantly, Richard has successfully launched new brands, revitalized overlooked ones, and generated brand success continuation.

His passion includes his wife, children and grandchildren. In addition, he’s fearless on the golf course and has achieved his life long goal of getting his instrument rated pilots license.

Jennifer Bantner

Jennifer Banter

Jennifer Bantner earned her Army commission through ROTC at Dartmouth College and has continuously served on both active duty and as a reservist for over 26 years.  Her background blends her military leadership experience with her passion for education.  Jennifer has taught resiliency skills as part of the DoD Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program to both service members and their families.  She was an adjunct professor for Military Social Work Programs offered by Dominican University’s Graduate School of Social Work.  Jennifer also taught ROTC at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  Her current position in the Army Reserve is as a master trainer of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).

Jennifer raised her four daughters in McHenry and continues to enjoy walks in Moraine Hills State Park with her husband and fellow service member, Michael Miller, and their two dogs.
